He should to upgrade to at least 768MB. I would not run Tiger using less than 512, the computer is crippled with pageins/pageouts.

Definitely the 2011 model. It is much faster than the 2010 model, especially when it comes to the 13". There is no dedicated video card, but if you want to play games you should go with a 15" anyway. Also, you get the Thunderbolt port.

Yes 10% if within 30 days but not within the first 2 weeks. First 2 weeks is no fee return at Apple.
I thought you couldn't return at all after 14 days? Are you sure you can return up to 30 days?

It sounds high. Check the prices for refurbished MacBooks for comparison.

That looks to be a cheap or free DSL modem given to you by your internet provider? It's entirely possible it's just a piece of crap and you need a better router.
I got a free router built in with my FIOS modem, but it's a piece of crap. I hooked up an Airport Extreme to it and use that instead.

Nope, stuck with Apple ...
And if you look at the www.970eval.com website, the G5 is insanely complex to use -- which killed the white box market and it's use in embedded systems.
Basically it's Apple or nothing -- in fact some of the companies that signed contracts to build machines using the G5 exited the business entirely :p .
Edit: with the G3 and G4, you didn't need to use any parts from Apple to build a PPC system -- but you cannot get away from it on the G5.

haha yeah orange! You helped me out in my last thread here too. I was just noting your helpfulness!
I really want to jump on this. It indeed has the 128mb card. Does it really make the powerbook worth more? I am not too concerned about the scratches and dents because I replace those slowly.

Are you running anything CPU/GPU intensive, that could drive your temps high enough to cause a shutdown?
my temps reach 78, or 80, with the fans staying at 2k. Dont think thats a problem, plus i looked over on istat, and it reported 54C 2 minutes before a shutdown

I am new to IMAC and use IMOVIE 9 to make import videos off my SONY HDR-XR100 I import them into an event.
I delete the hard disk on my Handycam or I cannot tape anything else. Now I am afraid everything is on computer I have no tape since the camera is HD. How can I backup the video I previously taped and save as usable input in the future. Currently I am taking uo 336 GB of my hard drive in Imovie Events.
Thanks for advice and help on this

Quicksilver isn't really designed to do such a thing. It is supposed to be more focused. Use Spotlight to find everything, thats what it is there for. CMD+space.
Yes it was. And I figured out hwo to do it it. You go into catalogue and change everything's 'depth' from 1 ( the default ) to infinity ( infinite depth search, i.e every file is searchable )
If i hadn't done more research I would have been led to believe that this was not possible by you! Please don't pass bad information on to Macrumors posters !

I have an encrypted root FS DMG for iOS 4.3.2, and I'd like to be able to access some of the images, but they have modified headers. There are a million and one tools out there but none of them seem to work, not fully anyway, I keep getting between a 1/3 and 3/4 of the image, very rarely the whole thing.
Has anyone been able to "normalise" any images from a recent iOS dump?

The resulting video file will be watchable?
Yup, I've done it with a few region locked DVDs.

If you already have two partitions established, you can reformat one without affecting the other. It's like having two separate drives.
Brilliant! thanks for your help :D

I bought the ihome ip90 in January and it worked fantastic for the first couple of months. About 2 weeks ago the screen went black and it did not work. I returned it for another one and again, this time within a week, it went dead again. It still charges my ipod but will not play music. I was hesitant to buy another one. Two days later it randomly started working again; this morning it was working. I noticed that the date that appeared was back to factory settings. I came home only to find it dead once again. I dont know what to do/how to fix it! Does anyone have any suggestions?

You won't directly be able to install XP over 7. You'll have to use bootcamp assistant to erase the windows partition and create a new one.

Yes and yes. Boot Camp Assistant does create a second partition, but is using the FAT32 file system. You need to format the second partition using HFS+.
But you could also use Disk Utility to partition your HDD/SSD.
