Woz is great. The wife and I have mentioned even going to the store he always shows up to wait in line just to meet him.

Not sure if this helps, but have you updated the software to the latest version? MS released a Service Pack recently.

Your computer is infected with some description of malware, which is giving you this message, probably to fool you into buying their useless software. Superantispyware is not an anti-virus program, so you need to cover all the angles. Download, install, update and scan with these programs:
Spyware Terminator: http://www.spywareterminator.com/
Avira AntiVir Classic: http://www.free-av.com/
AVG anti-spyware free: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download-fre
If they do not solve the problem, try restarting in safe mode (press f8 repeatedly while your computer starts up), and scan in that. Then reboot your computer into normal windows, and see if it is gone. If not, scan with http://www.bitdefender.com/PRODUCT-14-en
and then online with http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner

...I'm wondering if there are any better apps to monitor FaH, which also include the ability to pause FaH, for the mac (leopard specifically)???
Thanks :)
welcome, and thanks for folding. i think you already found the two i would've recommended.
i assume when you say 'pause' you mean a 1 click or right-click 'pause'... nothing that i am aware of, but that's not saying much. EDIT: the current increase release FAQ page says 'You can start, stop, pause, and continue easily from InCrease or its Dock menu.' but since i'm not using it anymore, i can't confirm or deny that...
first, i guess, what kind of computer, and which client are you using? assume mac, and guessing the command line interface, so increase is about the only way to start/stop without getting geeky in terminal.
more info, and we can try and get you better answers. best of luck.

Yesterday was my official 2-year anniversary for folding.
314,000 points isn't too bad considering the limited number and limited power of my machines...at least by modern standards. My current production is low, and my rank has been dropping, but I am still pretty happy with the sheer amount of work I've contributed.
Not tooting my own horn, just wanted to mark the occasion. Congrats to all of you who are passing me...keep it up!
Super! :D
I was a member with SETI one and ended up over 12,000 wu's. Now that SETI one is over, I've been wondering what to do with my spare CPU time.
Appreciate your post to get me thinking about Folding.

I have had a B&W G3/400 for 4 years now and it's been really good to me. I just upgraded it to a G3/800 and it's gonna last a while longer.
It's now slightly faster than my dual G4/800 (one processor at a time) at some things. :)
Hope you enjoy it. It's not likely to have trouble. Remember to fill it up with good RAM for best Mac OS X performance.

I have this back and like it, except for the fact that it's SLIGHTLY thicker than original. I was wondering the same thing about the sheilding though. How easy is it to get off and put back on. Obviously the back is extremely easy but curious about the shielding...

on apple.com, with this new .8 update, one of the key points is
- improved file sharing and directory services for mixed Mac and PC networks
Welll i use PC & Mac at home. and after taking this update on the mac, i tried to transfer a 100meg file today, and it wasn't moving fast at all!
Now im using a wireless network with the mac, but 40min to move 100megs? Its normaly alot faster then that, and this has happened after this update.
I have searched a couple post on the site regarding .8 update, however did not see anything regarding my problem.
Can anyone shed some light?
thanks

Hm. Has anyone else seen this?
http://store.apple.com/uk-edu/browse/home/shop_mac/family/imac/select?mco=MjIwNTQyNjE
The educational discount on iMacs in the UK used to be 12%. I know this because the top-end iMac that I bought last October, which should've been 1,649, was 1,452. Plus, AppleCare was reduced from 139 to 34. So, all in, about 1,486.
Looking at these figures, it seems to me that the discount's been reduced to 6%. And now, AppleCare costs almost 118. Had these been the prices seven months ago, my iMac would've cost me another 180-odd.
Has anybody in the UK tried to buy one of the new iMacs with the educational discount? Are these figures accurate? I'm asking because it never used to be possible to access these figures away from a university computer - you'd only get the educational pricing from an institutional login, or by phoning the Apple Store hotline - whereas I'm suddenly able to access them from my desk at home. I'm wondering whether (and kinda hoping that...) this is a website screw-up.
It all seems rather odd. Odd that Apple would cut the discount by such a substantial proportion - which is bound to dissuade some students from buying one - and odd that I can suddenly access this part of the website.
Cheers,
DH.

I have a 4Gb Iphone that has been used about a month and is now sitting on my desk collecting dust. I would actually be interested in that Imac. Can you send me pics? Im at work but i could get you pics when i get home. Thanks Kyle
I'd love to make the trade with you on the imac. I actually have it in my room at home (I'm at my apartment on campus at the moment). I could have you pics by the end of the weekend or on Monday. If that is okay. It's in 9.5/10 condition, comes with original clear apple mouse, original apple speakers (the little round ones), and a black generic keyboard.

i can do $370 for a pretty much brand new iphone. My uncle barely used it and went back to his blackberry as he liked it better. He probably used it for 2 days. No scratches, nothing at all on it, Brand new in mint condition. I packed it back in the box, and has all accessories, as it would come from the store.
It is an 8gb iPhone. Let me know if you are interested.
Thanx
No offense, but at $370 I'd rather just go buy a new one at $399.

From my experience Zaggs only orange peel if you mess around with it once its on and it doesnt set properly once lifted. I've had Zaggs on my iphones and ipods without a problem and without orange peel. I've used Phantom Skinz on my droids that worked just as well and are Cheaper. SGP also makes some as well. They're included if you buy one of their bumpers.

those are the same until you get to the 40GB 4G. I believe that one gets thicker. Not sure about the 30 GB The 30GB and 40GB 3G are the same thickness, (0.11" thicker than the 10/15/20) and the 40GB 4G is just a touch thinner.
However, Mactracker lists the 10/15/20GB 3G as 0.62"/15.7mm, and the 20GB 4G as 0.57"/15.7mm. That just doesn't seem right...

Most of the apple users work on Windows PC's at work. At least I do... Hope that changes sometime...
Anyways, I'm a vivid .Mac user, have all my stuff stored in Mail, Addressbook, iCal, Safari Bookmarks ,etc. I iSync everything to .Mac but when I'm at work, I have no counterpart application for it...
I'm stuck with the bookmarks popup window that at least has now links to the addressbook and the mail application. There's no link to iCal or anything web based that allows me to change and update my iCal calendar.
Is there something that can edit iCal files on a windows pc?

I'm looking for a program to convert avi files to mpeg. The videos are very choppy when tr ying to view on the computer. I want to convert, and then burn them, so I can watch them.
Versiontracker turned up alot of software that can do it, but I'm broke right now. I need a free solution.I don't get why you want to convert the .avi files. If you install the DivX and 3ivx QuickTime codecs, you can play them in any QuickTime-compatible application as is.

When I type in Safari or Atomic or even click links there is about a 1 second delay, which is huge. Is this happening to anyone else? It started a few weeks ago and the update didn't help.

Absolutely. Go to Preferences > Importing > Import using: MP3 Encoder. You can also set custom settings there.
Select the AAC song(s) in iTunes, then go to the Advanced menu and select "Covert Selection to MP3."
If you're talking about songs you downloaded from the iTunes music store:
[1] Transfer the song to your iPod.
[2] Connect an audio cable from your iPod to the audio in on your computer.
[3] Download and install Sound Studio (http://www.felttip.com/products/soundstudio/download.shtml). Open a new recording window and accept the default settings.
[4] Go to the Window menu in Sound Studio, select the Show Input Levels, and click on "Soft play-through." (At this point, set your iPod's volume to maximum.)
[5] Hit the record button in Sound Studio and play the song from your iPod together.
[6] When the song reaches the end, terminate the recording in Sound Studio.
[7] Eliminate any silence from the recording that you don't need, and adjust the amplitude of the waveform if necessary.
[8] Save the file.
[9] Bring it to iTunes.
[10] Convert it to whatever format you need.
AAC files have better quality compression technology compared to mp3 files of the same bitrate.
At equivalent bitrates and track lengths, files of type AAC and mp3 also have the same file size.
Note: When converting from AAC to mp3, you will lose significant quality. I suggest AIFF (or WAV) to mp3 conversion from the original uncompressed AIFF source.

It's nice to have enthusiasm, and I commend you on that. However, you really aren't doing anything new. Everything you say you want to do haas already been done. The sites that already do it have large and loyal fan bases already. I just don't think it's a wise idea to devote so much time and effort into something that will essentially be a "knock-off."
Sorry :(
