That's great. I don't have a network cable and I believe the Firewire is cheaper. Will give it a go tomorrow. Thanks much for the clarification!

There's at least 6 different versions of the Elitebook. Which one are you talking about?

My phone gets slow with jailbreaking. Did anyone see his phone unable to load settings? Pretty much what happens to me
Anyways, jailbreaking is cool. You can do a lot with it. Just need a faster iPhone.

Yes, it just dangles there. The breakout is quite a long way down the cable though, so it's usually behind the Mac Pro rather out in sight.

Hey everyone
Firstly sorry for annoying anyone in advance as i'm new to the jailbreak stuff.
I'm trying to JB with redsn0w from JB 4.01 to 4.3.2 and it's asking for the .IPSW file. Where is this file?
I've tried looking in appdata/roaming/apple computer/itunes.......the only folders there are /cookies and /itunes plug-ins.
I'm using windows 7, any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Jamie

This page http://guides.macrumors.com/Special:Wantedpages is useless.
The creation of those footers that link to every Mac is certainly a good idea, however, it really distorts the Wanted Pages thing and makes it hard to figure out what to work on.
I propose we either:
1. Un-link the unfinished articles in the footers (for now!)
2. Form a tiger-team and knock out ALL those missing Mac/iPod/whatever pages in short order, so that "WantedPages" gets back to random stuff.

for a marketing guy he's doing really well. he's in a company that consistently values the idea of product marketing so much so that he gets quite a lot of face time during product launches. when was the last time you saw Dell, HP, Sony or any other consumer tech company's marketing exec come out and publicly say something?
also, as someone mentioned above, the highest paid positions are often finance and operations related due to the fact that CEOs are culled from the two departments. the general, and often mistaken, way of thinking is that a company survive without marketing and advertising... but knock out either finance or operations, you have a gimped company.

Not #4, The last time I did that my G5 Electrocuted me, and it wouldn't boot for a week!
I ned to get typing and do a few more classic pages! The plan is interesting, I just don't know how to work with the software well enough to help implement it!
I know even less about the software, but my Mac 512K requires a good bath every now and again.

this is not the best sub forum for this type of question but you can try reducing the burning speed and make it burn more reliably.

cool. where can i see how many points team macrumors has?
I think This Page (http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=teampage&teamnum=3446) is what you are looking for, but This Site (http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=3446) is also good.

Keep in mind that Lion is only in developer preview right now. Which means programs that don't work right now could end up working just fine later. Unless you've heard or read something like "Application X will not be supported in Lion" (a good example is Blizzard announcing that some of its older games won't be supported), it might still end up working.

I checked to see if the store would let me select the new $299 16GB iPod touch or the new nanos, but according to the "Get a Free iPod" screen,
"iPod models introduced on September 9, 2008 are not eligible for this promotion."
:(
Pointless thread 17...
This happens every year, if they allowed the new iPods to be a part of the promotion, do you think people would go ahead and get them, or would they just wait until the new stock came in?
Right. Isn't one of the main purposes of the back-to-school program to get rid of the old stock???
Exactly, and it's a damn good tactic, you sell alot of technically old stock, which is then replaced by new hardware, that all the people who got the back to school promo will probably end up buying in February... Double sale win!

You will be able to do that, it just doesn't like to stay awake unless a keyboard or mouse is there, or if it isn't plugged into the wall. It may also require the display to be plugged in.

2 weeks isn't that long to wait :) Be careful who you order from online as there are a lot of cheats out there. Try doing a google search for ipad 2 real time inventory. You will probably have your best bet at target if you aren't going to buy online. Your other bet would be to go to an apple store at like 7 am and wait on a Wednesday. Good luck.

It's very possible. But I guess with IBM powering the new Xbox 360 with the PowerPC cores (oh the irony) I guess they figured they didn't feel like talking him out of moving again.
I'm excited about the intel switch aside from one thing. I wanted to see a G5 Powerbook. Oh well.

I've got a tech problem. This is rare, because I'm a pretty techy guy and most times I can sort things out.
My ipad is struggling with some video imports. The only reason I bought an iPad 2 was to use imovie and well . . .
I'm a journalist. I'm embedding with the armed forces. I want to be able to shoot video on my Sony CX110, pull the SD card out, transfer that video onto the ipad. Then edit it, lay down some basic voice over, and upload the footage directly to youtube/vimeo.
I didn't think this was a super hard idea. But my lowest camera output is an MPG file, that while the ipad 2 can see and import this file from the SD card reader, I cannot view or edit it in any way.
Is there an app that will let me work around this? I understand that I can run an MPG or even a nice high rez MTS file through a desktop converter that will let me play (and maybe edit?) on the ipad. But there isn't space in the back of an armoured vehicle for my desktop, or even a laptop really. Part of why the ipad was my first choice.
Did I make the wrong purchase? Or is there some way to jump the MPEG gap and get those files into imovie? Thanks for any and all help.
Cheers

Currently at the Apple Store for Education there is a $50 rebate on most iBooks. (Some are $47) Smells like new portables to me.
