I'm a Wii and DS guy who is sick of waiting for games, so I'm going to invest in a 360 as well. This may be strange to some of you, but I'm only going to rent games through GameFly, not purchase any. I'm just wondering which configuration you all think would suit me better and which I'd be happier with.
Hard Drive - I like the cheaper price of the Core, but would I need a memory card? The games I see myself renting first would be Gears of War, Lost Planet, Dead or Alive 4, and an NBA game. Is there any advantage to having the hard drive for these games? I'll also subscribe to XBox Live, would I want a hard drive for that?
Controllers - I'm in love with wireless controllers ever since I got my Wii, so that'd be a downside of the Core to me. Do the batteries last a long time? Maybe I could just get the Core, sell the wired controller and buy a pair of wireless ones?
HD - I don't have an HD capable TV, but I might get a 24" Dell LCD soon, which supports it, if that would affect my choice?
I'm just looking for advice because I really have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to the 360. I feel stupid because I realize I'm a Nintendo fanboy because I only know about their stuff. :o
Daniel.

I used Greenpois0n RC6 for my ipod touch 2g MC model... worked perfectly...
just download greenpoison, run it, then turn your ipod completely off (while plugged in), press start in greenpoison and follow their very simple instructions.
Once done it will reboot the ipod and you'll have a Loader app on your springboard, use that to install cydia
*if the loader crashes (automatically closes when you open it) its because you didnt use the right version of greenpoison. Get the correct one, restore, then redo the jailbreak with the newest version of Greenpois0n

I've done some research, and it appears that DisplayOut is the best option for mirroring software and Resupported4 is best for using generic cables. However, one last thing that I cannot find is which cable to get. There was a thread a while back with eBay links, but those listing have long expired. Can anybody recommend a good, cheap generic cable for this purpose?

Owning a Mac Pro 1,1 I have found it just as usable on Lion as it is on Snow Leopard (It is still a beta at the end of the day so of course there are going to be bugs).
I would say its pretty safe in support, the only reason Apple are removing support of the older generation is due to the 1st gen Core chips using 32bit architecture. The Mac Pro used a Xeon which shared traits with the Core 2 Duo, hence it is actually a 64 bit chip.
How does it run snow leopard? Is it fairly smooth and usable? I'm just concerned about CPU. I'll be upgrading the HDD's, Ram and GPU.

While I believe it might suit an Apple PC (and a PC bought by me) because of the stronger integrated graphics, I two find it highly unlikely that Apple would switch some of their PC's from Intel to AMD. It requires them to optimize pretty much everything they release for both.
On a sidenote, when AMD recently stated they were shipping their first Llano processors, it was predicted that OEM's will release Fusion-based machines not before june and I'm thinking new mini's will come next week with the iMacs (not that that's certain yet but hey, a man can dream right?). These two don't really match up, no matter how much I want them to.
Edit: Also, any ideas about Fusions TDP?

I get my iPod battery replacements on eBay. You might have to wait a bit for shipping since the best deals ship from China though.

For the past few months I've been experiencing a weird noise coming from my mac. It sounds like a fan is running, then it stops, then it starts up again, and it's fairly loud.. and annoying. It sounds like a slight skipping/scuffing sound. It used to be a very quiet machine.
Well yesterday I put a dvd in to watch a movie. And it started to pause then play, then pause again. Then it froze. So I turned off the computer and took out the dvd manually and tried starting it up again, and the mac turned on, but my monitor stayed blank.
I haven't experienced any weird freezing or lag before this, so I'm wondering if it's a HD issue?
The monitor is plugged in as well as everything else. The mac just won't start up. There's power going to it, because it does turn on, but it doesn't start the OS. Nothing loads, not even the mac jingle that usually plays.
Oh also, the power light doesn't come on (I do have a colored usb cable that lights up, proving there's power at least going to the machine).
I'm dreading that it's a hard drive failure.
Any help is much appreciated :)

after i create the partition and the system restarts, it says windows is loading files and eventually goes into the windows setup. However, before it ever even starts the installation process, i get this error message.
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a floppy
disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now. Note: If the windows
installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this
step."
followed by a scan for the drivers and another ***** you. I think it has something to do with sata drivers, but i have a very very vague understanding of what to do about about..please help a brotha out

Yes I have done all updating and everything necessary. I'm going to try some custom video card drivers later. I tried 2 separate TVs, and 2 HDMI wires, nothing.
Which adapter are you using?

I heard that Apple was scheduled to release them a month back, but they got stuck somewhere overseas in outbound shipping or something. It's probably somewhere else on here that I heard it, but I forget where.

Why do you have to be registered to download the program? I think it's kind of annoying. Is there any particular reason that you did this?

I've been using the computer in the same location since I got it, which is in a climate controlled environment. Yes, outside it is warmer, but inside it has been the same temperature all along.
I uninstalled flash (if you notice in the picture it says the flash is running in safari, even though I only had it on non-flash websites) and after doing so, the temps seemed to have gone back down to the previous temperature range.

6 September Tuesday - had heard nothing and in the mean time decided to change some items on the order. Was told that I would have to cancel and begin with a new order and would have to speak to MBNA again. Tried to re-order but got tired of waiting.
Sounds like this was the stumbling block.
I don't think you're being unreasonable as it is frustrating but I wouldn't cancel.
Get back onto Apple and try to sort it out. It'll all be worth it when your shiny iMac arrives!

I bought a used 1.33 15" PB about two weeks ago, got it late last week, and am just getting around to checking it out. 10's a big difference from 9.1 (to say nothing of the upgrade from a 6400). Anyway, the sytem's got the previous owner's information in it - all her settings, etc. I emailed her for her password (haven't heard back yet), but then I thought it might be better to simply clean install from the system disks and start w/ a fresh drive. There's nothing on the machine I need that I don't have backed up already; is there any reason not to proceed w/ a clean install?

That is false information (as 300D would say ;) :p :D)
2TB is limit of APM, not PPC. AFAIK SATA controller doesn't have a drive size limit.
Over 2TB you need to use GPT. Any OS X up from 10.4.6 is able to partition, mount, read and write GUID. No matter if it's on PPC or Intel Mac. PPC won't only boot off GPT partition.
OP, you should be able to use 3TB HDD in G5 for all but booting purposes (i.e. storage, backup, scratch etc) in OS X 10.4.6 + or 10.5.
oh... FIXED!

It may be a member site and not a site for consumers. I don't know, it is sparse but there is a link for logging in, so that leads me to believe its for franchisees or something.
